Curtin University
The Carpentries training equips Curtin researchers, staff and students with practical coding and data science skills through hands-on workshops in tools such as Python, R and Git.

Project overview
Researchers, staff and students increasingly need coding and data skills to work effectively with complex datasets. However, traditional academic training does not always provide practical experience with tools such as Python, R and Git.
Since 2018, CIDS has partnered with The Carpentries to deliver hands-on Data and Software Carpentries workshops for the Curtin community. Led by CIDS data scientists, the workshops use real-world examples and collaborative exercises to help participants build practical skills they can apply directly to their research and work.
The training supports more efficient workflows, reproducible research and stronger collaboration across disciplines.
